Swanky Christmas cards, without the swanky price: a how-to

Today was one of my favorite days of the year. It’s never the same day every year. It’s often a toss up as to which month it will fall in.  It’s the day our Christmas cards arrive.  I love coming home to find a cardboard box on the doorstep, stopping for an instant to wonder, “Hmm, what could that be?” then nearly falling over myself to get it inside and rip it open to see how this year’s edition has turned out.  I’ve had a few folks ask me about our Christmas cards. An unexpectedly lovely Thanksgiving.

Oddly enough, it’s been a Thanksgiving to remember.  I say “oddly” because I had to schedule surgery (laparoscopic gallbladder removal, no worries, I’m doing just fine) on Tuesday, which took me out of any and all Thanksgiving preparation and meant that I would spend the holiday recuperating and resting instead of making the rounds to the various family celebrations.  It turned out, however, to be a lovely day. Well, it would, except that two of the four people in this household are sick in one way or another, that being me and my six year old. So he is home with me today. He took the couch, I’ve got the recliner. We aren’t up for much of anything. Except that…

Pictures and a painting for a good cause

My creative brain is all tuckered out today, so rather than attempt to write something just for the sake of having written, I’ll share with you what I’ve been up to. At St. John’s Episcopal Church, here in Laurel, Mississippi, we are having our annual Wine Tasting & Silent Auction this coming Saturday night. I’m contributing a couple of things to the silent auction, and, in true Jenny Mac form, I’m finishing them up at the eleventh hour. Mixed media/acrylic cross painting.             Last week, in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, I posted a photo I took at St. Louis Cathedral in…
