Hacker or “surprise” guest blogger? You be the judge.

Hi, y’all. This is Jenny Mac’s husband, Noel. I’m taking over today. There’s got to be a picture of me around here somewhere. Oh, yeah. Here’s one. Obviously, she had already put the little arrow/label thing on here.  What? No, she didn’t give me permission, not explicitly anyway. She did leave her Blogger thing (whatever it’s called) open though. Besides, I’m not up to anything malicious. Christmas is right around the corner, and Jenny Mac’s favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night.” So I thought I would share this version with her readers in celebration of the season. (Actually, I email this out every year. She HATES it. Cringes every…

December: I see your stress card, and I raise you… one Charlie Brown movie

I made myself a promise about tonight, and I was bound and determined to keep it. This morning, before I left for work and the kids headed off to school, I told them that tonight, we would snuggle up on the couch and watch a Christmas move, drink hot cocoa and have a snack. It’s been a hectic week. One of those weeks. Both hubs and I were incredibly busy at work, there was at least one holiday party that had to be attended, there was an overabundance of homework, and there was an incident in which a green crayon and a purple crayon went through the washer AND the…

NowI, like many postmoderns, have a very busy life. I have a family. I also have a career. I’m plugged into church, community, and, I hope, the world as a whole. I work, drive, cook, care, organize, blog, design, plan, wash, dry, lather, rinse, repeat. Most of the time, this cycle of busyness keeps me going and I don’t even stop to think about it. And I never watch the news if I can help it. Ain’t nobody got time for that. But I’m going to be painfully honest with you, and I think it’s important because I am far from alone in this. A large part of the reason I…

Five for Friday: Advent, Twitter, Xmas, Elves, & the biggest Christmas parade in Mississippi

    1. If you’re looking for some daily Advent reading, I’ve got just the thing for you. Kirsten Oliphant has gathered a whole bunch of us bloggers and given each of us a day to write whatever we want about Advent.  You can find links to each day’s post here. (Psst…tomorrow is my day.)  2. Speaking of that, sometimes the funniest things happen on Twitter. Yesterday at lunchtime, I took a moment to share yesterday’s post by Sarah (@GirlGrowsUp).   Then this happened:  Two of my most oft tweeted-about subjects are Jesus and football. Sometimes things get crossed up. I assume this State fan meant to land this photo of Chris…
